- 1963
-
I was born at Weir Maternity
Hospital, Balham, South London. (That's what it says on my birth
certificate
- to be honest I don't remember much about the event).
- 1968
-
I started school in an insignificant
little place called Tring in Hertfordshire near London (but too far for
my liking).
- 1981
-
I finally finished school and was able
to escape from Tring to start studying at London University - Queen
Mary
College, Mile End Road.
- 1985
-
I graduated in Theoretical Physics.
The same year I did an intensive course to get the Royal Society of
Arts
Preparatory Certificate for the Teaching of English as a Foreign
Language
at the International Teacher Training Institute, International House,
Piccadilly,
London. I did this in order to leave for Milan (Italy) to become an
English
teacher. I left London on September 17th.
- 1989
-
I sat the Institute of Linguists Diploma
in Italian at the British Council, Via Manzoni, Milan. During the
summer
of the same year I also took a Spanish course at the Universidad de
Salamanca,
Patio de Escuelas Menores, Salamanca (Spain).
- 1990
-
After working as an English teacher
for 5 years, I turned to translation.
- 1998
-
- 2000
-
- 2002
-
I
was elected member of the executive council of the Lombardy branch of
the Italian Association of Translators and Interpreters (until May
2004).
- 2004
-
Atril
(the developers of the translation memory tool DéjàVu)
awarded me the title of Atril Certified Training Partner.
- 2005
-
- Now
-
Thanks to my scientific background,
I have gradually specialized in technical
translations:
industrial processes,
mechanical engineering, electronics, plant engineering, plant
automation,
information technology, physics, pharmaceuticals, etc. Being a keen
amateur cook, I have also translated texts on Italian cuisine. I still
live in Italy.
